BOS Germany

BOS Germany supports the projects of the BOS Foundation in Indonesia.

BOS Germany's fields of activity include public relations, environmental education, donations, acquisition, project support and political lobbying.

A key challenge is to ensure transparency of donations and their use in projects.

BOS Germany supports the implementation of projects through policy strategies, knowledge and evaluations and promotes networks and cooperation with many environmental and political organizations.

Team of BOS Deutschland

BOS Deutschland eV has been working as a well-known and respected registered charity since 2001.

Already years before the founding of BOS Germany the former jungle doctors, Dr. J. Peter Collin and Dr. Eberhard Kreikemeier from Kiel on the German-Indonesian Society (DIG) were successfully raising funds for BOS projects. With others, they founded the association BOS Germany eV in 2001.

In 2007 Jürgen Trittin, a former federal Environment Minister and leader of the Greens, became the patron of BOS Germany.

Dear BOS Members and Supporters,

I have been a patron of BOS Germany since October 2007.
Despite my busy schedule I have taken on this task with great pleasure.  Borneo Orangutan Survival (BOS) works tirelessly for the climate and habitat protection.
While the debate about the catastrophic effects of climate change has first become an issue again in the media since the UN report on climate change,  parties and non-governmental organizations such as BOS have been working with this theme for years, regardless of trends.

To bring the effects of climate change under control, world temperatures mustn't rise more than 2°C higher than in pre-industrial times. This problem can only be resolved globally.

In rain forest areas where orangutans live, large amounts of CO2 are bound up in the peat soils and the biomass of the forest.
The destruction of tropical forests alone causes 20 percent of global CO2 emissions. Therefore, through the protection of the orangutans' habitat, BOS also actively contributes  to climate protection.

Jürgen Trittin Stellvertretender Fraktionsvorsitzender der grünen Bundestagsfraktion

Jürgen Trittin, Chairman of the Federal Group of the Alliance 90/The Greens and former Federal Environment Minister, became patron of BOS Germany in 2007.

I am glad that you are actively committed to our environment and our endangered relatives, the orang-utans. By actively supporting BOS so wholeheartedly, you make a contribution to the Indonesian rain forests and protection of the climate. Together with you I want to work towards the implementation of BOS's objectives. Rainforest protection is climate protection!
